No Overnight Parking on Village Streets

Village ordinance restricts parking on village streets between the hours of 2:00 am and 6:00 am from November 1st through April 1st.

No Parking on Sidewalks

Sidewalks are owned and maintained by the property owner. Village ordinance requires sidewalks to be properly maintained for safe passage by pedestrians. Sidewalks that are not maintained may be maintained by the Village and the cost assessed to the property owner.

Building Permit Law

If you are planning to build, add on to, or tear down any structures in the village, you are required to apply for a building permit at the Building Codes Department located in the Lewis County Courthouse. Our county provides building code enforcement for the village. If you have questions, call 315-376-5377.

Junk Yard Law

The village has a law prohibiting the storage, leaving or depositing of abandoned, junked or inoperative motor vehicles on property located in the village. A motor vehicle not registered in the previous six months may be considered in violation.

Village Wide Curfew Law

Between the hours of 10:30 pm and 6:00 am it is unlawful and punishable by law for minors under the age of 18 years to roam the streets or congregate in or about a public setting.

Halloween Curfew Law

The village enforces an 8:00 PM curfew during the Halloween holiday. Please see notices posted and published identifying the dates of curfew during this time.

DEC Regulations

The village abides by the DEC Clean Air Regulation. It is Illegal, Unhealthy and Un-neighborly to burn household trash, whether in an open pit, burn barrel or wood stove. “Please don’t trash our air”.

Village Leash Law
