  • Water and Sewer Services:

The village provides water services to all properties located in the village and to some properties outside our village. Water rates are established by the village boatd and reviewed annually at budget time. Rates are established using a base household as one-unit and multiple dwelling properties and commercial establishments are assigned additional units. Current rates are $240 per unit per year and are billed quarterly.

The village provides sewer services to some areas of the village. Properties having access to the sewer system share in the cost of the system. Properties that do not have access do not pay a sewer rent charge. Sewer rates are based on the same unit system as water rents. The current rate for a single unit is $400 a year and are billed quarterly with water rents.

Failure to pay water and sewer charges by the due date results in a 5% penalty being added and an additional 1% per month is added to any outstanding balance. If water and sewer rents remain unpaid for more than four quarters they are added to village tax bills in April. This process is called “Relevy of Water/Sewer”. Additional penalties are assessed during this process.

  • Sewer Use Law:

The village sewer use law protects the investment we have made in our sewer system. Please only sewage from sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, dishwashers and washing. No sump machines can be discharged into the sewer or flushed into the sewer. The treatment plant uses a biological process to break down the organic material in sewage. Do not dump chemicals, oil solvents, paint thinners, etc. (drain cleaners are ok) into the system. All restaurants and food service establishments are required to have grease traps.

  • Garbage and Recycling Services:

At this time, the Village provides HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE pick up for residential properties within the village. The garbage removal company picks up both garbage and recyclables on Wednesdays. Garbage and recyclables should be on the street by 4:00 AM on the morning of pick up. Each residence & business is limited to four 30 gallon bags per week. This service saves village residents from having to contract for private sanitation services. The village participates in the Lewis County

Recycling Program. PLEASE follow the guidelines for recycling. Please put all glass, tin and plastic together in the provided trash can. It is a Lewis County law to put your garbage in clear bags. Any items that are not acceptable will be left in or near your container.

  • Village Wide Trash Pick Up:

Twice a year, the Department of Public Works (DPW) picks up items not considered household garbage. Trash pick up will commence in the first full week in June & October. Excluded items are: paint; unless completely dried, furniture, appliances, liquid batteries, tires, construction debris, any type of batteries and liquids of any kind.

GARBAGE AND TRASH PICK UP ARE FOR VILLAGE RESIDENTS ONLY. Allowing others to place garbage, trash, or recyclables at your home for pick up by the village is considered theft of services and is punishable by law.

  • Leaf & Brush Policy:

Leaf and brush pick up is a free service. Debris must be placed between the curb and sidewalk and will be collected between April 1st and the last Thursday in October; leaves may be bagged or loose, brush must be cut in 4 feet or shorter lengths.
